Surfing Music

Surf Music style developed in southern CA in the early 60s

celebrated not just surfing, but other mindless adolescent activities (sun bathing, beach parties, girls, hot rods, etc.)

went hand-in-hand with the mindset portrayed in Gidget and the Annette Funicello/Frankie Avalon beach movies of the late 50s & early 60s

developed into two strains: instrumental & vocal
